KinkVR videos marked as 4k incorrectly, and some words about being disingenuous

You're doing better work now, in 5k, and that is good.

But please stop false advertising that these videos are 4k, thanks. When I first saw kinkvr was bought I browsed and saw all those videos in 4K, I signed up right away. I figured maybe the original videos were uploaded in lower resolutions due to incompetence, cheapness, whatever. Unfortunately once I already paid I realized you bought the site and just falsely labeled all the videos as 4k. Not cool.

For example this video is 1920x1920. Every video that existed before the site was bought was less than 4k.

Please remove the 4k labels. I know you're all aware that it is misleading, the badoinkvr/vrcosplayx/etc sites are much more of money grubbers than some of the other sites like wankzvr or czechvr. You spread content thin as possible across many sites and pull deceitful things like this false advertising of video resolution. You also give bigger discounts to new customers than you do renewals, if you try to sign up using an existing email you deny the order. The babe vr site is rarely updated- but to prevent users from being aware of that before they get suckered into paying the same price as your more frequently updated sites you remove the "uploaded" date on the video listings. Same goes for the little "checkbox" upsells during sign up for something people don't want that is checked by default. Nothing is worst than missing one of those checkboxes and having to go through the hastle of canceling it. On top of that you share the customer details with that site so the shady little turds sell off your details for pennies. Fun.

Do you really think people are dumb enough to not notice these things? Little stuff like this annoys people. It makes me want to renew once every 6 months, download all the videos and cancel at the end of the month. Even though it's a hastle & annoying I cancel out of spite. I would much rather leave my subscriptions and get new videos when I feel like it.

If you simply offered all your content under one, fair bundle price that takes into account the velocity of updates for all of them that keeps it profitable for your business and dropped the deceitful tactics you would be getting money from me each month. Wouldn't you rather cash in on people each month than piss people off? I've never canceled my wankzvr or czechvr subs, there is no BS, no "upsells" with tiny checkboxes for tranny porn or other nonsense when I signed up, update my cc, etc.

Be like that, you get my money every month too.

  • Hey @pZN8XFYHtZiktJtx, thanks a lot for sharing your concern.
    You may have noticed that a lot of our earlier scenes were in 360, rather than 180. That means that the overall resolution 360 won't look quite so sharp. But those scenes are in fact in 4k. Some of those earlier scenes were also encoded as pixel 2.0 rather than 1.0, meaning that the metadata will show 2k, rather than 4k.
    We're also aware of some issues with scenes such as "Sister Slave, which had formatting issues in which the mobile version was uploaded instead of the Oculus version, but we're working to rectify that right now!
    And all the scenes we're shooting now are in 5K.
    We are no longer updating BabeVR with new videos - which we announced on both Reddit and the feedback forums. But all of the scenes we've shot are still available.

    The pre-selected boxes are common practice within the industry and are in place for the sake of convenience, but, yes I can understand how missing those could be frustrating. I'll have a word with the team to see if there's anything they can do about that.

    We've discussed network bundle deals recently, but I'm not sure how far down the timeline that is just now!

  • Again, those videos are not 4k, here is a video currently marked as 4k - https://kinkvr.com/bdsm-vr-video/lesbian_rope_slut-324302/

    ffprobe -v quiet \
    -print_format json \
    -show_format -show_streams KinkVR_LesbianRopeSlut_oculus_3dh_LR.mp4

            "width": 2880,
            "height": 1440,
            "coded_width": 2880,
            "coded_height": 1440,
            "sample_aspect_ratio": "1:1",
            "display_aspect_ratio": "2:1",
            "bit_rate": "6850818", (7M bitrate)
            "size": "635649604", (600MB file size)

    Here is a real 4K video from badoinkvr:

    ffprobe ... BaDoinkVR_Garden_Hoe_oculus_180_180x180_3dh_LR.mp4

            "width": 3840,
            "height": 1920,
            "coded_width": 3840,
            "coded_height": 1920,
            "sample_aspect_ratio": "0:1",
            "display_aspect_ratio": "0:1",
            "bit_rate": "42114631", (42M bitrate)
             "size": "7966161191",  (8GB)

    Compared to a recent 5k release:

    ffprobe .. kinkvr_Rolling_In_The_Hay_5k_180_180x180_3dh_LR.mp4

            "width": 5400,
            "height": 2700,
            "coded_width": 5400,
            "coded_height": 2704,
            "avg_frame_rate": "60000/1001",
            "sample_aspect_ratio": "1:1",
            "display_aspect_ratio": "2:1",
            "bit_rate": "36005009", (36M bitrate)
            "size": "12962644338", (12GB file size)

    Clearly there is a massive disparity between the quality of the video formats here. Now while the definition of 4K is not concrete, the one you're using here does not align with any well known consumer standards. If you disagree, which of the [1]4k video formats do you feel your video meets the standards for? And do you think the FTC would feel the same way given their [2]current recommendations for online advertising.

    [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4K_resolution
    [2] https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-center/guidance/advertising-marketing-internet-rules-road

    That said, I'm not trying to bust your balls here. But even if we just assume you're misinformed about the videos original formats, I think you're well aware the quality is not what any reasonable person would expect for 4k. I think that the collective business entity behind the site is being purposely disingenuous to generate revenue, not uncommon. This is uncool and you're better than that.

    "We are no longer updating BabeVR with new videos - which we announced on both Reddit and the feedback forums. But all of the scenes we've shot are still available."

    So you announced it everywhere except the one place the person paying for access will see it, on the site itself? No reasonable person would read this response and believe for one second you actually wanted consumers to be aware that the site would no longer be receiving updates so they could make an informed decision about their purchase.

    Again, not trying to bust your balls, and I guess I didn't expect you to say: "yea, we are being shady to generate revenue now at the expense of potential future revenue".. lol.. but I just expect more integrity at a business of this scale. Signing up for some shady hole in the wall internet porn site I expect to get nigerian prince emails, have to dodge multiple levels of tiny check boxes and general opt-in-by-default fuckery. It's part of the shitty porn site experience. I don't think badoink falls into that category.

    I got nothing more to add, do what you will with this information. I just wanted badoink to know I notice these things and it informs my future purchase decisions.

  • I could not agree with you more.

    Besides your points try being me, signed up for a whole year just to have an announcement that they are **changing the release schedule from once a week to once every 10 days **
    Did I get any money back = NO
    Did I get any other compensation = NO

    So for my 6 month review on the Nordic VR community it will differently be a "do not buy long term plans" and there are better options out there, the value is to low now.

    Cheers
